| In 1942, Bing Crosby's White Christmas began its climb to become the number one selling single of all time. With words and music by Irving Berlin, the song first appeared in Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn, a 1942 Paramount Picture. The movie starred Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Marjorie Reynolds. The song was number one for eleven weeks in 1942 and returned to number one in 1945 and 1946. It has made the chart in every Christmas season but one from 1942 to 1962.
