Bridge on the River Kwai
The Academy Award winning film for best picture was Bridge on the River Kwai.

The story centers on a forced bridge building project as Japanese captors push their British charges to complete a bridge on the River Kwai.  Unknown to all of them is the Allied plan to blow up the bridge.
